Executive Summary

Many corporations publicly condemned the insurrection and those lawmakers who voted against certification, and some pledged to no longer donate to their campaigns. But as time has passed, the condemnation from corporate America over January 6 and the Big Lie appears to be abating. Some of the corporations that pledged to stop funding the members who objected to certifying the election are quietly finding ways to give again.

Statement from Marathon Petroleum

Marathon Petroleum Suspended Political Donations Following The January 6 Capitol Riot, With A Spokesman Stating The Violence On That Day Was “’Appalling’” And “’Unequivocally’” Condemned By The Company.

“Marathon Petroleum, the largest petroleum refinery operator by volume in the country, is also pausing political contributions. The Ohio-based firm did not say when it would resume them. ‘The violence that took place at the Capitol was appalling, and we condemn it unequivocally,’ Marathon Petroleum spokesman Jamal Kheiry said. ‘We’re glad Congress was able to resume its important work toward the lawful transition to the Biden-Harris administration.
