Statement from PG&E
The process set forth in the Constitution to certify the 2020 election has occurred. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be the President and Vice President of the United States for the next four years. Those are facts. The lawlessness and mob violence we all witnessed last week is completely unacceptable and a symptom of a larger breakdown of civil discourse and political discussion in our country. This breakdown is affecting families, friends and neighbors in communities everywhere. We should all strive to do better and treat each other with respect. While we always welcome diverse political opinions, both in our workforce and in the halls of power, PG&E strongly objects to actions meant to erode a belief in our democratic principles and institutions.
PG&E hasn’t made any political contributions yet in 2021. The mission of PG&E Employee’s EnergyPAC is to elect candidates who understand our business and support public policies that enable PG&E to deliver safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy service. Enacting good public policies require stability in our government and institutions, and a commitment to civil discourse and compromise. As a result of recent events, and to put our commitment to civil discourse in action, we plan to conduct a series of listening sessions with our Energy PAC members and company coworkers to better understand our common positions and determine the best path forward for political contributions in the future.
